About Vanessa:
Vanessa currently calls the Big Island of Hawi’i home. Working out
of Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, she has had the opportunity
to participate in a number of local research and conservation efforts
including a USGS
funded study of the impacts of an introduced species of game bird upon
local ecology as well as surveys for the endangered and little studied
Hawaiian
hoary bat.
Previous to moving to Hawai’i, Vanessa has conducted independent
research in
Connecticut and the Brazilian Amazon, monitored Wilderness for the US
Forest
Service in Montana and worked for an environmental policy group out of
Cambridge, Massachusetts.
She currently spends her free-time filming plants and surfing big waves….well,
kinda big.
