Celosia argentea
Common names: Cockscombs, feathered amaranths
This plant is a wild form of the commonly propogated celosias (cockscombs).
While it is origionaly from Asia it has spread as a weed around
the tropics to Africa, Asia and South America.

This particular Celosia argentea photo was taken at the
Lyon arboretum in Manoa Valley, Oahu. Like most Celosias it needs
constant water. Thus, it is found in damp tropical surrounds where
the drainage is very good.
