Musophagiformes
There are 23 species of Turacos in one family (Musophagidae) and 5 genera - Corythaeola, Corythaixoides, Crinifer, Tauraco and Musophaga. Turacos are unique to Africa.
Turacos are noisy and sociable birds, normally found in small flocks. These birds are usually very colorfull and they actually contain two unique pigments. In the genera Tauraco and Musophaga, secondary feathers have a red color from the pigment called turacin, while some forest species have a unique green pigment called turacoverdin.
